Writing, retrieving, connecting…

Remember, our brain stores information in story form.  Master connectors develop amazing “retrieval systems.”  They draw from their brain more than you and I. Here’s how. They master the habit of writing. Huh…

Yup, it’s true. They master of the habit of writing narratives, not bullet points. The more they write, in narrative form, about what they’re learning about the Spartans, Seals, or some other something, the more they wire their neural network. The learning gets “seared” in their storage system up there.

They retrieve them exactly when they NEED them.

Today, during practice thirty, a few tried to connect their story to a newbie. It went alright. They have some writing and some practicing to get the story straight, so to speak. They’re learning how to connect memorably. By practice 267, it’ll be freakin’ magic baby. I can hardly wait.

Start writing. Start writing today and, soon, an unintended consequence will magically appear. You’ll move from writing to retrieving to deeply connecting. Writing, retrieving, connecting. These are the habits of master connectors. Are they habits of yours?
