Respect…

Here are a few hard truths about leading anything.

People, under your authority, will mostly respect your position. This is fear based and won’t last for long. As a positional leader, the structure and order within each of your teammates, demands they respect the position – it’s too chaotic to not. Think about it. Positional respect is common to almost all systems, even the most dysfunctional. This kinda respect is highly overrated. “Your people” will respect you when they see you modeling the way, embracing pain and suffering, and embodying truth in LOVE.  

M.T.W.E.P.&S.T.I.L. is how you spell respect. Funny, huh…

BTL leaders understand strength, growth, and truth cause real respect.  BTL leaders build the same three ingredients in those around them. BTL leader’s push, pull, and even carry their team in the direction of their dream.  They just do.  AND, when that leader needs a teammate to carry them, they will. What kinda respect you building? One based on your position or your person?
