Cowards…

One of my clients told me this morning something he liked from another coach. I tried to listen. He liked the idea of being “detached” when dealing with big customers, big CEO’s, big brothers – basically anyone in a “one up position.” I guess when you become detached you forget how much you need this deal, how small you really are, and how BIG the bad wolf really is.

The world of work is full of people trying to be detached in one meeting, delegating in another, delightful in front of the camera, and disciplined in doing what the BIG boss demands. At the end of the day this worker is drained.

The BTL recipe is to become the original you already are. Be who you are. Build your CORE. Author your OPUS. PoP it out with incredible discipline. You will become consistent, confident, convicted, and courageous. At the end of the day you will be energized.

Your problem, most likely, is like my client you don’t realize you are such a coward. Cowards play games. Cowards act like they’re detached one minute and domineering the next. Cowards get quiet when Mr. Big walks in the room. Cowards bully in a one up position. Cowards are different depending on where they are and who they’re with. Cowards are everywhere. A strong CORE informs your courage. It takes courage to be who you are. However, once you get comfortable in your own skin, it’s like you’re in perpetual “energy save” mode. Funny, huh.

God, help me fear you – other humans, not so much. God, help me…

  1. Great insight Toto. I know part of the price I pay when I CHOOSE cowardice is I sacrifice being “one” in my inner core. Out of fear, I lose integrity with my true self. Talk about draining.

Good reminder to CHOOSE to Build Your Courage to face fear not run from it or with the mask of some persona that’s not Y.O.U.
