I’m writing this morning, while looking at the ocean, enjoying the sound of the waves, and enjoying the sunshine (of course from the shade). I’m sitting at the dining room table in the exact room Miss, Tay, Sue, Cam, and I occupied three years ago. This time sister Sue and Cam are m.i.a. due to Spring break schedules. We miss them. We miss others too. We will always miss…
However, Miss, Tay, and I came right back to this place filled with memories, mostly cause we like to layer ’em. We like to layer memories. You, most likely, do too. This year we’ll lace a few new ones in with Tay’s friends Benny, and young doc Solly. And, with any luck, we’ll lace in a few with our oldest son Jordan who is due to arrive tomorrow. In June we’ll layer a few in Deer Valley with family. I’ve been going to this ranch since I was four. Yikes – that’s over half a century. And, in July, I’m returning to the French Alps for France deux. Every 5 years, a few cycling buddies and I plan to test ourselves on the toughest mountain climbs in France. I’m slow and getting slower but can’t wait to get tired with a few, take in the beauty, and layer some mo memories.
Remember, when we’re 90 our only memories will be the ones that most seared us.
Discover your hearts deepest desires. Pray to God for guidance and for the purity and simplicity of real pleasures. AND, go invest your time toward the people and places where your happiness resides. Every day we have the opportunity to make memories. Every day we choose to invest our most precious resource, our time, out of fear or out of LOVE. The world will try to convince you that there will always be more time tomorrow. The world’s agenda, remember, is to keep you busy 24/7 pursuing what they want. This is why you must build a strong CORE. Once built, your strong CORE will provide you what the world cannot and yet what we all deeply desire; design and direction toward your best work and life – toward your masterpiece.
Your OPUS.
It might help, on this journey toward your masterpiece, to remember a little Os (Guinness) along the way. Not only does his family tree produce some great brew, but they’ve produced some amazing Pastors and teachers as well. Check it out…
“It is often said that there are three requirements for a fulfilling life:
A clear sense of personal identity.
A deep sense of life’s meaning.
And, a strong sense of purpose and mission.
But even the first and the last are rooted in the middle one, the faith that represents one’s convictions about the meaning of life.”
Thanks Os, for some really good words. AND…
Thanks, Miss and Taylor for another memory worth remembering. Thanks for layering with me…
