Unplug…

Moore’s law, as I recently wrote, tells us technological advances are coming at us at mind numbing speeds. We live our lives awash in some kinda app tsunami.

I still read books in our library at home. I’m told to go Kindling or at least load ’em on my ipad – so much simpler to hold hundreds of great writings in the palm of my hand. I prefer holding one at a time. I like the smell of the paper and the feel of turning a page at a time with my index finger – slowly.

My current hardcover read is titled, Beyond Training, by Ben Greenfield. His writing will never be a bestseller. He wrote this baby 467 pages long – nobody reads beyond 200 these days. What the hell is he thinking? This book is written for nuts like him who are committed to active, physical lives. Chapter Nine is all about recovery. He’s got all kinda recommendations for recovery and many are cutting edge. My favorite, however, is so simple it’s kinda dumb. As mentioned earlier, we are up to our eyeballs – afloat in applications. Benny believes this is the enemy to unwinding. He thinks electromagnetic fields (EMFs) are some bad mofo’s. EMFs are all around your computers, ipads, mobile phones, Wi-Fi routers, and any other “connected” environment. He’s got solid data around the effect of holding onto your EMF a bit too tightly and for a bit too long. Like all freakin’ day for most of you!

EMFs are stressors. They amp you up. Your nerves, cells, heart, and brain are affected. So, if you want to recover more completely unplug a bit earlier. Put your EMF down hours before bed and unwind with your dog, cat, or loved one. You, most likely, could use some recovery from a day filled with stressors. Unwind, my friends. Step one just may be to dumb yourself down and unplug. Who knew technological advances could tighten us humans up in ball of our own twine. Funny and kinda dumb, huh.
