Never…

Remember, mass attracts mass. Exceptional systems follow a strict discipline with their human capital. They hire slowly and fire quickly. Hire slowly, first. Never rush the process. “Never” is a discipline few leaders follow without exception. Never is the bar.

Never lower the bar and bring in somebody because of their name, your need, a lack of time, or any other reason beyond their attitude, their alignment toward your vision, their energy and engagement in your systems purpose, and their desire to be exceptional.  Never lower the bar.

Never.

Never make the mistake of thinking somebody is better than nobody. Never make the mistake of thinking a warm body is better than nobody. Never make the mistake of thinking a familiar body is better than nobody. Never make the mistake of thinking a family body is better than nobody.

Mass attracts mass, remember. Will your new hire attract an even stronger next new hire? Never send the offer letter if you can’t answer in the affirmative. Never. Never is a tough hiring discipline. Do you see it? Remember, nobody you bring into your system is neutral.  Your next new body will either strengthen or weaken your collection of current bodies.

Do you see why it is so hard to grow once you’ve experienced growth? Do you see why becoming ONE distinct, deeply connected, and BTL is exponentially harder as you incrementally grow? Slow down and reflect…
