PA, as most of you know, in BTL speak isn’t a slang for your dad or grandad. PA stands for productive action. Most of you, however, think you are acting productively when, in fact, you are not. Most of you are married to PA, as in passive aggressive. The few high performers reading these words know the nuance to their own PA. They choose PA that is performance aggressive. Let me unpack…
The world is full of faux performers who have succumbed to fear and decided instead of playing with truth they will play it safe. I drive these kinda performers out of their mind! These performers mask their thinking and feeling and take just a fraction too long to decide to open their mouth or get their shoulders in front of their defender. Instead of speaking truth or finding themselves in space, they say nothing or find themselves without the ball. I see this everyday. I want to see less…
Your job, if your aim is high performance, is to learn how to face your fears and in your moments of truth remain aggressive. Not aggressive in a bullying kinda way, but aggressive in a performance kinda way. Aggressive because you are here to perform at the highest level and attack your work with your whole heart and complete effort. Aggressive because you are headed somewhere you’ve decided is worth the cost. High performers are performance aggressive. The world is full and getting fuller of passive aggressive people. Do you see your own passivity?
We need Y.O.U. to beocme one of the few who has a dream worth pursuing. A dream worth your best. A dream energizing you to bring aggression toward your performance. Everyday, at your place of work, people are watching you and seeing how Y.O.U. are performing when you’re away from home. I hope they see you going for it and getting your shoulders in front of whatever defender you happen to face.
PA is NOT created equally. The majority is passive aggressive action – half hearted, if you will. Performance aggressive is the one you want. Go on, Jimmy, get your shoulders in front. You, my friend, belong in some space…

Thank you for the wake up call!

Great One Chet…Nailed me good (or is it well)! So, with the scalpel having done it’s work, i get to walking the same day, as with most surgeries today the patient is up and walking the same day (even if just a few steps). David
Thank you Toto… here’s some more “ands” to what PA is NOT from shadowing you in a few practices lately and few followup Performance Aggressive conversations of our own:

The PATH-ology of Slow Death is paved by all of the above… PATH-etic Actions.
God, give us the humility and courage to be true builders, not faux settlers.
