7 good minutes, C.S. Lewis, Jesus, and you…

Practice 95 and all the corporate leaders are out of town. We still started on time. We still got after it with full engagement. We played the way this team always plays, with OG and Liz leading with curious/challenging questions, with goalie going where few have gone before, with fast farmer internalizing his way, with Stevo slowing down and reminding us, and with Joy, lots of Joy.

Today, we practiced giving each other one of the greatest gifts humans have to have. We practiced getting another. Not getting another in the sense where they feel they’ve been had. We all get that way too much. We practiced getting another in the kinda way where after seven good minutes another says something inside their head that warms their heart. Don’t miss this. This could be HUGE. Here’s what these humans say to themselves when they’ve been gotten.

“They get me.”

ALL humans want at least one other human to get them, in this kinda way. We all deeply desire to be understood. Few feel this most magical connection with another. Few. Today, as you connect with countless humans along your work/life way, remember you’re not encountering mere mortals as C.S. Lewis so eloquently reminds us. Everyday you run into immortals of divine importance, divine design, and divine creation. Today, give a few divine creations a gift you can use; give another the gift of understanding. As you give this gift, slow down and study what happens inside you. Write what you learn about the process, personally, and the person. Practice 7 good minutes even if it’s only going in one direction. You may get more than you give.

I think it was Jesus who said something about 7 good minutes a few years back. Jesus taught and lived this too. Don’t miss this. This is true. “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

Give. Give. Give. And, God, help us all…
