32…

Miss and I made a commitment to each other 32 years ago today, on a day as beautiful as this one. In between we’ve seen dog days (we love dogs), short days, long ones, births, deaths, beautiful places, and some not so pretty ones too. We’ve shared a bed in one condo, one apartment, and three houses. We’ve changed in all kinda ways since July 24, 1982.

We are still together.

And 32 is a pretty good mile marker to pass on by. We’re no longer confused as newlyweds. Nope, we’re not. We’ve blown past silver and are headed to gold. My Miss, however, remains my Bride and my greatest blessing. Today we will pause, reflect, remember, and celebrate the blessing of still being together. We won’t take each other for granted. We’ve learned to be more forgiving and, just as marked, to give each other the benefit of the doubt. It is good to give and receive this kinda benefit. It takes a long time to build trust that gives this most comforting gift. We realize we’re both lucky.

And, I’m so glad my Greek/Comanche meant it when she took me for better or worse. She is one of the few whose word I take. She is one of the few whose word I trust. She is one of the few. Most importantly – She is the one for me.

Happy, happy 32, My Miss. Happy 32…
