downer walked in first with his water bottle, towel, and wearing a fashionable smirk. The littlest fricker was right behind him and soon bending himself into some kinda pretzel stretch as I sipped my coffee over in the corner. Grappy bounded in on his tippytoes. He had landed the number one recruit in the 132 lb weight class on Friday night and was still kinda floating on air. He hadn’t arrived home until 2:30 AM and yet here he was at 6:15 ready to get after it in the 3PP. jmo waltzed in as he always does. The quiet assassin took his spot in the corner. He’s warm without saying a word. PJ piled in last. He’s got little ones and always comes with a full effort regardless how little sleep he gets. We were missing Stud, Blondie, Durp, and sloLO.
Yesterday morning from 6:30 – 8:05, we were a team of six working on our core. This morning, my triceps are sore and calves are tender. My lower back feels great. The arthritis in my left hip is quiet as is the arthritis in my broken AC shoulder joint. I’m good, huh. You see, yesterday, and every Tuesday/Thursday, this team gets together to put itself into acute pain of our own choosing. By choosing this kinda pain, our chronic pains are lessened. You, most likely, have too much chronic pain in your system and too little acute. Chronic pain drains, dulls, and leaves you feeling bitter as you settle on the sidelines of life. Do NOT slowly take the slide down, my friend. Instead, find yourself some tough teammates, catch a big dream for your physical self, and push yourself into the acute stuff.
Better, not bitter, is on the other side of the acute stuff. Thanks, my crazy 3PP team of ten for making me better; bitter, not so much. And, I hope to see your sorriness on Tuesday. I’ve got the lead and you’re not gonna like it. You’re good, right…
