Tell me more…

Yesterday, I watched a team of three tell each other some hard, tough truths. These three thought I was a bit critical as I challenged them to come clean in this exclusive country club community they’ve carved out for themselves. They have done really well and built something very successful. I challenge them, anyway. You see, BTL exists to awaken, challenge, and together transform a few individuals, teams, and leaders into ONE. ONE, distinct, deeply connected, and BTL.”

We never stop challenging, not because we’re critical; instead, because we care.

Ralph Waldo Emerson was right when he said, “Our chief want in life is someone who will make us do what we can.” This team of three can do a lot. It is my job to challenge them from belief; not frustration. I challenge them and every client early and often. I challenge because I believe. I challenge because I care. I challenge because I’m aiming at excellence and am comfortable telling hard, tough, truth. I challenge because I’ve been challenged and seen the healthy, helpful effects. Remember, according to Daniel Goleman a leader in the field of emotional intelligence, most CEO’s live in an information vacuum, mostly of their own making. He refers to this vacuum as “CEO disease.” You, most likely, already have contracted this disease; you just don’t know it. Am I being too critical, my dear reader. Am I making you a bit uncomfortable and kinda losing you. Tell me more, my friend. Tell me more.

How ’bout you? Are you challenging your family, friends, and clients because you care or are you just trying to get along and letting your helpful hints simply grow stale in your craw? Are you pushing your teammates to tell you hard truths to make you better? Are you inviting this kinda feedback and letting it in? Are you strong enough to not let weak knees hold you back?Bitter or better. Bitter or better. You choose. Your choices have consequences.

Tell me more, my friends. Tell me more…
