I am writing you after playing a perfect round of golf on a perfect day with a perfect client and a perfect caddy on a perfect piece of land called Muirfield. Yes, I am blessed, spoiled, and soft.
Today, I was reminded why I love the game of golf. Golf is a game where you play your foul balls. Golf is a game where there is no referee to blame. Golf is a game where there is no teammate to blame. Golf is a game where there is nobody to blame but you. I love the simplicity and the pure accountability that comes with every swing. Today, I played with a grappler. We didn’t set the course record. We didn’t do anything amazing. We didn’t do anything but play the game. As I drove home tonight, my face was creased with a smile from ear to ear. I was heading home to my bride and her understanding arms. The game was behind me and another one was coming soon.
I used to play golf competively. I used to care about my score. Now, I enjoy a good walk with a friend and every round is a sCORE. Next week I am planning to play with my partner, Peteboy. The week after with my clients from Team Fishel and kman’s krazies. Golf makes me smile regardless my score. I guess that is why I play today and why I anticipate playing tomorrow even though tomorrow is a week away.
Thanks, durp for converting from a grappler to a golfer. I knew it would only take a round or two. Good…
