Feeling and fact…

Today, during practice 39, with a team of three men tasked with transitioning power, I did a little teaching with one who oftentimes thinks his “voice gets lost.” How does one’s voice get lost, I wondered. I think it’s not literally lost, it just feels that way whenever we don’t feel heard. I hope you’re getting this. This is some good stuff, friend. Want more of your words to stick with your target audience? Follow the BTL recipe for speaking.

1. Speak from your heart.
2. Practice ccd (clear, concise, and direct).
3. Tell the truth in LOVE.

My client speaks “in fact,” I told him. He speaks factually, accurately, and makes few mistakes. “I want to be right,” he responded without so much as thinking. He is very teachable and is already working on building his second nature sound. Good. As we wrapped another good practice time together I reminded him in the written notes. “Speak from the heart, practice ccd, and truth in LOVE,” I spelled it out. “This is the language of master connectors. FACT.” We both smiled and laughed. Who said this kinda work from the heart can’t be about feeling and fact. Yup, I’ve got a sense a humor but just don’t always show it. I mean come on man, you did find this funny, didn’t you. What language you speaking? Are your words getting lost or left behind? Do you throw up so many thoughts, your audience disconnects? Have you lost the ability to bullshit? Good…
