Everyday I am paid to hit. In a very real sense, I’m a hit man. Of course my aim is not to hurt or eliminate but instead to illuminate. You see, when I hit a client, I am attempting to hit them with the truth in love and illuminate one of their blind spots. Make sense?
Here’s a truth regarding these hits. There’s an old boxing term you’ve most likely heard before, “roll with the punches.” You see, boxers are trained to roll their body when absorbing a punch. The worst thing for any boxer is to be caught flat footed and standing still. You cannot roll with something when you are stuck, standing still. The key is to keep moving. Fatigue stops most boxers from rolling with the punch. Fear stops most of my clients from doing the same. You see, fear is one crazy mofo. Fear stops us in our tracks and we don’t even know it until some tiny love tap of truth sends us into full triple d mode or instead of rolling with it, we attempt to laugh it off. Or like my client today, you can always explain it away by blaming the hit man as, you know, being “that guy.”
I am paid to hit. If you’re a client of mine, you’re best bet is to keep moving; not running away, mind you. Moving purposely in the direction of your dream with disciplined PA of your own making. Expect the love tap from me to keep you on your toes, make you do what you can, and hold you accountable when you fail. You’re only getting “cold cocked” when you stand still a bit too long. Your job, if you want to get better in the ring of life, is to learn how to roll with the punches and turn your body in the direction the hit is moving you. Roll with the punches, friend, especially when you head home. Funny, huh…
