Forgive or eject…

Here’s a letter I wrote recently to a client. I could write this one to myself and every single family, friend, and client – daily. Let it in and see if it helps…

Hey,

I’ve been thinking about you and your situation this weekend and looking back over our practices and your writing to try to find something to help push you forward. You have been through a really rough patch as you’ve processed, personally through a series of sabotage. You’ve been confused and frustrated.

You’ve got to move forward.

You are a leader. Act like it. Stop focusing above you at the disconnects with ownership and others. Look around at your leadership team and your teammates far and wide. Serve them. Make them do what they can. Focus on your strategic partners and deepen relationship where it makes sense. Stop focusing on how you’ve been wronged. Focus your mind on how teammates have tried to make things right. Look at all you’ve been given with deep gratitude, not just a sense of justice being served.

Make your mind focus on how you can make things right around you. Focus on other people.

You have been blessed beyond belief in your work and life. You’ve been given great recognition, position, power, and all kinds of prominence. You have people in work and life who respect and love you. Focus on the gifts you’ve received, not the sabotage. All of us get both in this life and we have to learn to focus our minds on the gifts more than than the gotcha’s. You have got to move forward. Forgive or eject, remember. Most stituations call for forgiveness. Some call for us to eject ourselves or toxic others. Wisdom is in knowing when to choose which. When you experience deep sabotage and betrayal, you’ve got to learn the depth of your need to forgive.  You are not going to change your saboteurs. You can choose to change you. You are capable of being a great catalyst for changing your system in work and life. You can. Will you forgive or will you eject?  I believe in you. I see greatness in you. Forgive. Go forward. Focus on others around you that need your help. There are many.

You remain in my thoughts and prayers,

Chet
