Human nature shows us who we really are. Not who we hope to become, but who we are at the moment. As described in yesterday’s rant, we’ve got a dark side. And, we’ve all got a brighter side too. We’re all wired with certain innate strengths that when discovered, cultivated, and challenged properly, grow even stronger. These strengths give us energy, naturally.
Marcus Buckingham, author of many books including Now Discover Your Strengths, did us all a favor by providing a simple tool for uncovering some of your bright side wiring. He made popular the research of Donald Clifton, known as the father of strengths-based psychology. You mostly already know these signature strengths. When you take his assessment, now under the Gallup guise, you won’t learn much new. The magic will be in the reminder and then using your new clarity to invest more time and energy in strengthening you more where you are already strong. Your BTL builder is a strengths based builder and can help you put your bright side into more and more PA (productive action) in 2016. Resolve to brighten your bulb and build on your already existing neural networks in 2016.
Remember, the more light you bring into your life the less you’ll be in the dark. Google strengths finder 2.0, take the test, and for a few bucks you’ll get some science you and your builder can put to proper use. Build your bright side, friend. Good.
