Thanks for today…

Early this morning as I drove to my workout I realized my dumdum had a text I’d not seen. I know, never text and drive. I wasn’t texting. I was reading. Talk about rationalization, huh. Anywho, as I read the text from Tay, my eyes grew moist and my heart full. Tay, in his own ccd magic, was complimenting my work. It’s gonna be another great day, I thought to myself. It is. FM, baby.

Doc Bob grabbed my arm while I was running wild on the treadmill. Surprised, I’m glad my reflex was to smile. Doc couldn’t wait to tell me he was working on getting the TRX moved to a proper mount. He told me how much his core hurt from his first foray on the straps yesterday. Doc’s one of my workout buddies at Muirfield. He’s 80 something. A few minutes later, George, grabs me on the other arm to tell me he’s heading out. He wanted to make sure and tell me to be careful tomorrow on the roads. He knew I’d probably be out on my bike and wanted to make sure I was aware of some of the rural routes not being quite rideable. I smiled and told my 82 year old friend I would listen to him and only go if it’s dry – really dry.

Back in my car I made a quick call to Mom. Mom is 90 and sick for the first time in a long, long time. She has pneumonia. However, today, she sounded much better. She’s still tired she told me but she feels energy beginning to return. It was good to talk to her if even for only a few minutes. Proverbs 25:25 is true. “As cold water to a weary soul, so is good news from far away.”

Today, Krits helped Cha Cha Cha (Missi) and Ding (me) secure tickets to see Coldplay this summer. We were struggling getting online and somehow Krits came through. Now we’ve got tickets for our anniversary weekend and it’s going to be another special celebration, together.

Tonight, Miss and I will enjoy some good food, drink, and convo with old friends. And, as I’m re-reading Collins masterpiece The Language of God, I’m reminded of C.S. Lewis and how much he would value days such as these. There are few joys much better then the joys of friendship and family. So, thank you Tay, thank you Doc and George, thank you Mom, Miss, and Krits. Thanks God for giving us a fore taste. Thanks for today…
