Infinite…

Peak performance is an infinite game – it cannot be won, only played (kinda like golf, huh Steven Pressfield). You cannot win the peak performance game. You keep reaching. Keep working. Keep playing. Never stop. You cannot win. Embrace this.

Can you lose?

Yes. Here’s how. You lose by playing it safe. You lose by staying in the comfort zone. You lose by telling yourself lies to soothe wounds when you’re beaten. You lose by NOT going full thrust. You lose by settling for good instead of chasing great. You lose by leaving something in the tank. You lose by listening to inner/outer critics and giving up. You lose by not embracing the struggle. Life is beautiful and hard, remember…

What do you need to keep playing the infinite game? Simple, not easy.

Strong CORE. Authentic OPUS. Discipline of PoP (playbook of productive action). CORE. OPUS. PoP. These are the tools. You are the artist. We’re here to help but nobody can do it for you. You have to believe in you, your big dream, your competence, passion, purpose, and performance. You and only you are responsible for how you play the game.

For me, it’s the fourth quarter. The clock is ticking, you know. I’m not thinking about protecting anything. Having the time of my life. Working my ASS off toward a worthy aim, surrounded by truth tellers, and flowing through the obstacles in my way. It’s a good tired. No clock watching for me. Too busy loving the challenge of hard opus and grateful beyond belief. Mastery remains my aim; retirement, not so much. My peak, I believe, is still yet to come. You?

Live hard. Love harder. Much harder…
