Had late night dinner with my son’s friend (mine too), David Julca. We stayed up way past my bedtime talking and laughing with Andrew, Ek, Krit, Tay, Jordan, Josh, and Taylor (Jordan’s girlfriend). Miss made it all happen by staying with Baby Aedán James. More memories. More joy, just like the name of David’s studio in Miami. Good.
David reminded me of something I said to him long ago. Stuck with him. I told him to focus on being great not getting BIG, he recalled. The first will take care of the other. You will attract the right audience/market when great is your aim, not going/getting BIG. He’s a double Grammy winner now, twenty years later. He’s got his own studio doing music and art his way. He has a wonderful daughter and fiancé. He’s great and he knows he has a long way to go. So, so good.
Focus wisely, friend. Focus on mastering your craft, not marketing it. Focus on finding your faith, not faking it. Focus on giving more than you take, not seeing how much you can get away with. Your attention is your greatest asset. Focus it. Never stop. Great.
Live hard. Love harder…
