
Inertia, as defined by Websters is as follows:
“A property of matter by which it remains at rest or in uniform motion in the same straight line unless acted upon by some outside force.”
Iniertia is the enemy to transformation.
The BTL purpose is all around transformation. This is the deepest of change. Any change, even the smallest, requires a decision to disrupt the status quo. This requires brain work and here the rub begins. Wiring up new neural connections is much harder than continuing your current mental models. Takes glucose. Energy. The brain, by default, is in energy save mode. It does not want to change. Fact.
You, friend, cannot become BTL without rewiring your brain. It will hurt. All change does. It’s emotional. All decisions are. New Year’s resolutions are all about using an arbitrary date as a catalyst for deep change. Rarely works. So, friend, remember to write truth regarding why you want to change this, that, or the other thing. Start with baby steps. Use momentum to your advantage. Slowly pick more aggressive targets.
Today, the 3PP kicked off year sixteen. We were three souls strong. We got after core work for 58:58. We hadn’t been together for eight days as Miss and I were with our Berlin baby, you know. So, today, we fought Inierta and went slow. Focused on form and time under tension. I designed the workout to surprise our muscles and didn’t follow the timer to a tee. I mixed it up and improvised. We’re now beyond baby stepping. My aim is to design workouts we cannot complete. We did not start this way. We would not continue growing, however, if we didn’t change it up and shock our system. Our old workouts would be way too comfortable now. Fact.
Change is hard.
Pain is inevitable. Misery a choice. Iniertia is the enemy. Do not wait for some outside force to change your sorriness. Choose to change yourself. Choose it now while you’re fired up after reading this rant. Do not wait and give damn Iniertia a foothold. Iniertia is the enemy. LFG.
