Do or do not…

Many marvel at the human brain – me included. It’s freakin’ huge and capable of amazing creativity (art), and construction (science). We are capable of solving complex problems. We’ve figured out so much and continue to unlock secrets to human capacity. Seems freakin’ almost unlimited, you know. Here’s the funny thing, at least to me.

Humans are more rationalizing than rational.

Everyday, and I mean every single day, clients of mine (super smart successful dudes) make excuses for not doing what they told me the week prior would be done. They tell me (more importantly themselves) why they did end up doing so much bullshit. They had to. This friend is called bullshitting yourself. They rationalize it away. This is how most humans maintain a sense of self esteem. It’s more accurate name?

Self delusion.

This past week I heard more than a few promises made. PA’s (productive actions) were committed to with sincere conviction. They know these PA’s will make them and their team better. Many of them will NOT get done. Next week more rationalizing will occur. When confronting them with facts, many will not put up a fight. “You’re right,” I’ll hear more than any other phrase. Translation. You’re extreme, Chet, you’re unrealistic. Chet you’re too this or too that. Rational or rationalizing?

So, friend, look in the f$#%ing mirror. Pick one of your blemishes.  Only f($%ing one. Fixate on it. Don’t get distracted. Don’t seek diversion. Don’t get depressed. Do something. Decide specifically your PA to eradicate it like f7*9ing now. Develop an en brera (no alternative) mindset. Make it a done so.

Next week pick another blemish. Only one. Rinse and repeat. Your face will slowly clear up. You’ll enjoy looking in the mirror a bit more and then a bit more. You’ll gain momentum on your greatest leadership challenge – the challenge of leading yourself. Rome wasn’t built in a day. Takes time. Rational. Building a better you ain’t no different. Stop saying someday. Start today.

Replace the popular F$#@ it with the more rational Fuck me. Stop the incessant blaming of others with the ever popular F#$% you. Others are not your problem. Think about it. Point the thumb.

My language offensive? How ’bout your behavior? Do or do not. Damn.

Live hard. Love ❤️ harder…
