Epictetus was a stoic stud back in the day. Didn’t write a book but taught so well his students wrote one about him. According to his students writing, Epictetus, taught him two words to internalize.
Persist and resist.
Without perseverance we stop short. Without resisting what we know we ought, we overindulge and get fat and happy instead of carrying on. Persist in a worthy struggle, toward a meaningful aim. Resist the temptation to take it easy and believe the bullshit you’ve somehow arrived. Keep working. Avoid entanglements. Simple, not easy.
Live hard. Love harder…
