Justice and grace…

“How monotonously alike all the great tyrants and conquerors have been; how gloriously different the saints.” C.S. Lewis Taken from Mere Christianity

Every team has saboteurs. It’s an inside job. As leaders and teammates facing tyrants within our own teams, we will be tweaked (more often than you want to admit). Fact.

What to do? Give them justice. Offer grace. Sometimes we forgive and forget. Other times we forgive (this is for ourselves mainly) and hold standards. Remember the actor/observer bias, leaders. When we act out ourselves we tend to give ourselves grace. We didn’t mean to harm. We were tired. We misunderstood the rule. When we observe the same behavior in another? We tend to see their actions as a character flaw. They deserve what they get. We want justice.

Leadership is easy when you’re aim is low. When you aim to lead championship cultures, it’s freakin’ hard as hell. Want a better team? Become a better leader. Hold standards. Offer grace. Yes indeed, how gloriously different the saints.

Live hard. Love ❤️ harder…
