Peers…

Most humans are inconsistent, operating differently when in a “one up” position vs “one down.”

Translation. Most don’t treat others the way we want to be treated (golden rule) or treat others the way they tell us they want to be treated (platinum rule). Most treat others based on their position in the systems hierarchy. When in a position over them (one up) they boss ’em. When one down – they bullshit ’em.

This leads to inconsistencies all around, including in performance.

The best of the best are consistent. Whether leader or follower. No change. These dudes create a team of peers. Hard to beat. Study Leonidas and the 300. The most famous team of peers in history. These dudes preserved freedom back in 480 BC by proving the indisputable power of peers. Xerxes (Persian King) led a team of slaves. Sure they won the three day battle. The Greeks won the war. Damn.

BTL is a team of peers. We’re a coalition. We play together because we want to. We’re ONE, but not the same. What kind of team you building? What kind of teammate are you becoming? One up, one down? No diff or BIG diff? You choose. Your choices have consequences.

Live hard. Love harder…
