I get blamed by my friends for many of their injuries. They blame me for doing too much of the same drill, not giving them enough rest between reps, and putting together routines that make no sense. They are not completely wrong but missing the point. Here’s truth. To peak you must play with pain. The key? Knowing the difference between productive pain and warning pain. Your body will send you warning signals before it breaks. It’s up to you to respond appropriately. Only you.
Train through or through training.
An experienced athlete knows the difference between pain and injury. They’ve learned to listen to their bodies. They know when to tell the legs to shutthehellup and when to shut ‘em down. They know the difference between pre-game jitters and the early signs of anxiety and panic. The first they use as fuel and amp up, the second one they use breath and calmthehelldown. Sometimes you trust your training and power through. Sometimes you trust your gut and shut ‘er down.
Pro’s know peak performance resides on the edge between their challenge zone and chaos. Just this side of chaos is where you want to train. Your best is found on the rivets, not in the comfort zone. Fact.
Some of you are stopping too early. Some are ignoring too long. Learn to read your body or your body will read you the riot act. Hard stop. Train, but not without proper constrains. For many this means training the ego. For some it means training through fear. Train hard, friends, but use your brain. Train through or through training. You choose. Your choices have consequences. Slow down. Reflect. Write. Where is your ego getting in the way? Where is fear holding you down?
Live hard. Love ❤️ harder. Train…
