Get curious

Curiosity is a (perhaps THE) powerful tool for leaders. The more curious you are, the more you deeply understand your people, your problems, your performance. The more curious you are, the more clear your people become. Rather than telling them what to do, you’re discovering the path forward with them. You’re equipping them to make those decisions for themselves, rather than relying on you to be the decision maker.

The more you tell, direct, bloviate, the more you isolate yourself from the real stories that are happening within the company and the more you put up a barrier that keeps you from getting to the root of problems and eradicating them.

Slow down, get curious, get to the root. Speak less, listen a whole lot more.
