
Leader, your job is NOT to own the tension in your system. Your job is to figure out the tension and push it to its rightful owner. This is simple, not easy. Every team has leaders (overly responsible, usually) who own others tension. This seems fair, for a moment or two, as these leaders are strong and capable of handling what others cannot. Eventually, owning others tension bogs down even the best.
Pass the tension to its rightful owner, leader. You’re not doing them a favor when you’re passive, placating, or permissive. You’ve been reminded.
