“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” -Carl Rogers
Similar to AA. The first step in changing your relationship with alcohol is to admit you’re an alcoholic. The first step in changing anything is acknowledging and accepting the reality of who and where you are. In BTL parlance, the first step is waking up. Then the challenge comes. Truth tellers do this for us, but it can be done for yourself as well. Writing is the best tool we know of to get this clarity.
Slow down, get clarity on exactly where you are. Fully accept the reality of it. Then get clarity on the gap between who/where you are and who/where you want to be, and decide how you want to close it. Lastly, take action.
