Want to vs will to

Just about everyone wants to be great at what they do. Athletes want to win, to play at a high level. In the workplace, most want to perform well within their domain. And yet many fall short. If that’s you, a good question to ask – is my want to exceeded by my will to? And is that true of any change I’m trying to make?

If my will to is lacking, then inspection is needed. Do I really desire that thing I’m chasing? Am I clear about why I want it? What are the obstacles in my way and what must be done to remove them? What are the disciplines I must practice to level up my will to?

Get clear, then get disciplined. Make sure your will to matches or exceeds your want to. Make sure your practice habits match your game expectations.
