Aging…

I’m a damn near expert on aging. Sixty six. Medicare. Living hard, in my mind, but in reality getting soft. My mom is a cool hundred. She’s still fighting for right and living for it too. Here’s my perspective, for what it’s worth.

Aging aint for cowards.

Hits every human different, but hits every human if you live long enough. Aging humans are not like fine wine. We do not, naturally, get better with age. We, in fact, get worse as we age unless we build a better, second nature. I am not delusional. I know my body is not what it once was. I’m not getting stronger each day. I am working my ASS off to become less soft. Things don’t always work the way they once did.

Aint easy to face and not fold.

So, I attempt to focus my mind on the positives. I am getting better spiritually, mentally, and relationally. As the body weakens, my spirit gets stronger. I know this. Makes me smile, at least some of the time.

Here’s aging truth. Experience is the greatest teacher, if you’re humble enough to learn from it. None of this happens naturally. You have to fight to age right. What, friend, are your healthy habits for building a better you as your body begins to freakin’ betray your sorriness? Are you going gracefully or kicking and screaming?

I am sure I’ve not solved this aging problem. I am not afraid to die, but I am still afraid of losing my mind. I’m still afraid to lose others I love. Still afraid, you know…

What, friend, are you doing to face your age, make peace with your place, and fight your natural decline? You have a built in expiration date. Do not give up. Die young – as old as possible. Remember, we all come into this world self centered and other controlling. Excellence requires we become CORE centered, and self controlling. The world is filled with old babies. Aging aint for cowards. Don’t be an old man (fewer women are) still acting like a baby, my friend. Maybe, just maybe it’s time for you to go to your room, alone, and pray. Ask God for help. Humbly sit silently and listen for a change. Aging. Damn.

Live hard. Love harder. Much harder…

    “The Ministry of Being With…”

Time moves forward here on earth – – – BUT – – – once you become aware of the Kingdom – – – and the Spirit abides in you…You realize that time itself can move backward.

It can be redeemed through the One. Time can move backward and forgive the time that is behind you.
