Observer Chet…

Ten practices with a new client. He’s renamed me already. To this dude, my name is Observer Chet. Tells me this every practice. This week he unpacked it. You see, his friends live in judgement. Mostly negative. Told me he was scared shitless of my judgement when we started. Thought I’d bring the judgement hammer. Been primed by close friends. F*$% me.

I have no hammer.

Well, I guess that’s not true. I do have a hammer, it’s the intense power of observation. My nail? Truth. The more you master the art of observation, leader, the more easily truth goes down when you share it. Especially the kind of hard truth that helps and heals.

If you want a team to run through walls with you, observe them. Study them. Get curious and challenging. When you speak, make it CCD (clear, concise, and direct) truth from a noble heart. When you go too far, get too emotional, or simply make a mess of things, relax, you’re in good company. Take a deep breath and repair. You see, friend, a master observer makes plenty of mistakes. When they do, they stop hammering and start repairing instead. This is actually nailing it! Damn.

What are the names your team’s given you?

Live hard. Love ❤️ harder…
