One WORD makes A WORLD of difference…

I just finished a great morning of coaching and then had lunch with my bride. My last client is a great leader that has lots of room to grow. He is getting better. He, like you and I, has a LONG way to go. This is true in work and in life.

Our session ended on a high note. He got today’s message. He summed up the melody line back to me. I asked him to write it down. He doesn’t particularily like to write. He wrote.

As I read what he wrote I noticed a word that I wanted to change. I asked him to reread what he had written. He did not see anything that needed changing. He was right. I was too.

All I did was change one WORD. This one WORD difference is HUGE. One WORD makes A WORLD of difference for you and your teams in work and life. Here’s the one WORD…do not miss this nuance.

My client had summed up our time together with a list of actions he needed to do. He wrote…”I need to, I need to, I need to”

I changed one word…”I WANT to.”

Your team does not want to feel like you are “doing your duty.” They connect when they FEEL you passionately doing exactly what you WANT to help them get better. Your team does not want you to “do lunch” because you have to. They want you to invest your time, energy, and your whole self with them because you want to! Your team wants to be with you because they know there is no place you would rather be. Cool.

One WORD can make a WORLD of difference. Do you see it?

What word do you want to change out of your vocabulary?

What word do you want to insert?

Why?

Why?

Why?

Remember, you don’t have to do anything.
