Size matters…

Another great week at BTL. I just completed three days of practice with three different teams. They were all a blast. I learned a ton. The last blog I mentioned one of the learnings…the higher the level of the people; the lower the level of the trust.

Here’s another one. This one surprised me.

The higher the number of people; the lower the level of trust.

Surprise, surprise.

People may say that groups of 15 to 25 are ideal for classroom learning but I’m finding that people still hold back…even at that number.

Why?

Size matters.

Most “normal” people are not comfortable beyond a few. Today we had two less than a bakers dozen. This team had never been missing this many. Truth be told…this group did not really MISS them. They got some things done. They learned some cool stuff about their team. Even found out one of them is getting married!

They beat each other up a bit. Encouraged a few. Clarified a bunch…and then took it outside…for a little lunch.

Surprise, surprise.

Size matters.

What are you doing to break your team down?

How “big” are your team meetings?

When was the last time you took the time to break it down for your team in really small groups eventhough you are telling them all the same thing?

Why?
