Kary, Natalie, Joshua, and Rhett…

Today was friday…

with the Pastors.

As always it was cool and unexpectedly so.  Rhett joined the bunch today that was unusually small due to the fact that most had decided to holiday while they still can.

Rhett recently quit his gig as a Youth Pastor.  He’s not sure what’s next.  He’s 24.  He’s ready and waiting. He’s wanting to follow his Caller wherever that might lead.  All he knows, at present, is that where that is…is not where he is.  Sounds like a struggle.  I can smell the FEAR in the air.  Can you imagine?

Today the four of us helped him get some clarity on what’s next.  In the process we helped Joshua gain some too.  Today, our friend Rhett went from ready and waiting to ready and waiting and ACTING too.  Today Rhett discovered the beauty of experimenting.  You could see his eyes light up when he realized that his FEAR is normal.

Taking ACTION is what makes people WEIRD and I, for one, believe that God designed each of us to be wired uniquely.  He wired us to play to our strengths, to take risks, to discover His purpose, and to invest our lives in His most treasured creation.

Others.

Today Kary, Natalie, Joshua, Rhett, and Chet awakened just a little bit more.  Today we were reminded that great lives are not without their STRUGGLES.  Today, my mind will remember meeting another 24 year old that gives me such hope for our future.  Today, I was encouraged by the struggle of another, the struggle of one more, and seeing the struggle within myself.  Today, my investment portfolio rose.  Today, I hit it big.

Nobody applauded.  Few noticed and I have NO idea how my “paper portfolio” performed.

AND, I’m alright with that.

Tomorrow, more memories with a new couple of Scott’s.  Jordan and Keturah’s party with all their 24 year old friends.  Tomorrow, I might just hit it big.  Tomorrow, I will learn from dozens of 24’s. Tomorrow, my investment portfolio may rocket through the roof.  The roof of the tent, that is.

Who are you pouring yourself into?

What investments get the majority of your limited ATTENTION?

What are you learning from those half your age?

What are you learning from those twice?

What are you learning from those that never applaud no matter what you do?

Hey Natalie and Joshua…

THANKS.
