Young…

I’m 49.75.  Am I young, am I middle aged, or am I old?  One would assume that the answer would depend on the age of the answerer.  One would assume that their number would create their perspective.  Make sense?

Today I hung out with a young 65 year old and a young pair of 30 somethings.  Yesterday I was with a young 38 year old, a young 45 year old, and a young 30 something.  Tomorrow I’ll be with a young 30 something and then working out with a young 51.0, a young 55.0, a young 57.0 and an even younger 25.0.

Today I was told by a 65.0 that a 31.0 wanted to work with me because of my age.  He wanted to work with someone that was…

Young.

His words not mine.  I loved hearing and savoring the sound of those words as they rattled in my head.  I used to hear those words so often.  I was always the “young lad,” or the “kid.”  I was short, somewhat thin, and had a baby face.  That was loooooooooong ago.  Now, I’m short, somewhat gray, and have a weathered face.

Still, however, perceived by some as young.  Very cool.

Attention reader.  Wake up. Here comes the point of this writing.  Do NOT miss this.  This could be HUGE…

The more years you pursue your OPUS, the younger at heart, I predict, you will become.  The opposite, I believe, is just as true.  The longer you labor in the vain pursuit of simple, material gain, the older and emptier you will become.  Let’s grow young…

together.

Today, I observed a young 65 growing younger.  I observed a number of humans, today, awakening.  Waking up the dead is heartening work.  The reward is observed and absorbed from eye to eye.  I can’t wait for today to begin.  Today, gives me the opportunity to grow younger at heart.

Are you growing old?

Is your heart growing younger?

What will my eyes observe and absorb when they meet yours?

Tell me more…

  1. Dear Babyface,
I had the pleasure of watching you with that young 65.0 yesterday, (and not, by the way, being recognized as young myself…). I’d “AND” your post with this comment: I predict, further, that not only will someone pursuing OPUS become younger, they will, at the same time, fit more LIFE into each year as the “age.” Having been the beneficiary of this transformation, I get the double benefit of getting younger while I double or triple the experience in my years. Very cool.

  2. Chet,
If the average male lives to 76 and your 49 you have 27 years or 9,855 day’s left in this life planet earth. It would reguire a few bottles of wine to ponder the next life!
I agree with your message get busy living (OPUS) or your most likely dying. But I would challenge that what ever others say about you being young or old, the person looking back at you in the mirror is the most important! Do you like what you see? If not what needs to change? Ok I’m preaching to the choir now!
I enjoy your blogs and insights…..and your not average so add another 10 years or 3,650 day’s to that first life!

  3. Hey Ron,

Great to hear from a guy choosing opus. AND, I love your and. Of course, you are right in reminding all of us that the man or woman in the mirror is the one that matters most. Very cool. I hope you are hitting it out of the park and hope to cross paths again on this journey.

    Take care,

    Chet
