The power of belief…

I’m just into another new book.  This one was given to me by my friend, the Vet.  Our son’s play soccer together and we sometimes ride at the tournaments between games.  He’s a really nice guy and yesterday he tossed me this book as I dropped off Taylor for a birthday party.  The book is written by Johan Bruynel and is titled, We Might As Well Win.  Johan is the Team Director that led Lance Armstrong to his Seven Tour victories.  The book is his story.

It could have been titled, The Power of BELIEF.

The book opens with a foreword from Lance.  Here’s a taste.

“He became my friend, the closest thing I’ve had to a brother, my confidant, my partner in obsession, and the greatest coach not only in cycling but all sport.  He’s a genius – not necessarily a schoolbook type of genius, but one whose intuition and street smarts are unrivaled.  But the first thing he did for me, the one thing that made everything else possible, was at once the simplest and probably the most difficult for people to do: he believed in me.”

Let your senses take that paragraph in.  Absorb it.  Imagine your team feeling what Lance felt.

About YOU.  About you, as their LEADER.

Visualize your individual team members being caught up in your belief and going after their crazy, big dreams.  Can you imagine what that might do to their individual performance?  Can you imagine what that might do for your collective performance?  Do you understand that NOW, in this tough time, your belief, and your teams belief is the best BET you can make?

The power of belief.
