One…

Today, I had another chance to experience our tagline, together we improve.  Only today, I didn’t feel much like improving.  I felt more like kicking somebody’s butt.  Today, I felt like the entire BTL message was falling on deaf ears.  Do you ever have days like that?  Day’s where you wonder why the hell are you working so hard promoting something that you believe in and that nobody else seems to even recognize?

As Danny said many moons ago, who can’t relate to dragging ass.

I certainly can.

Today, and every other day, I have to remind myself that it doesn’t really matter what the world tells me about me and my work.  I have to remind myself to put the blinders on.  I have to shut out the noise and the distraction that is often the same as our clients and our customers.  I have to remind myself that no matter what the response, no matter the mass, no matter the attraction, no matter the acceptance, that this is the work that I’m called to perform.

I take a deep breath.  I relax.  I bury my own, personal, fears.  AND, I begin to serve those that I’ve been blessed with serving.

Remember, you and I are really performing for the audience of ONE..

  1. Chet, so sorry your ass is draggin’. It’s the rare day when we all hear about that. Here’s a little ditty to lift your sorry ass up again…

    Sometimes the teaching is hard
    Sometimes they turn and run
    Sometimes the ass is lard
    Sometimes it ain’t no fun.

Most times you know your heart
Most times you don’t get done
Each day is just a start
On the road on the way to ONE.

Chosen? You know there are few
From the many who can’t hear the call
You know what we have to do
Awaken them, and LOVE them all!

    Your pal,
    Sully

  2. Chet if by an audience of one you mean ” God, I’m with you . That’s the reason I keep plugging and dont quit when my words fall on deaf ears. I just remind myself I’m working for him and that he (God ) is trying to teach me something . . so take a deep breath and keep plugging.

  3. Hey Chet — Today was a good day as I spent it with friends and my lovely wife, and the weather was perfect. But last week was such a drag. So I can relate to the question …. “what am I doing this for” ? “Am I making any difference” ? “Is anyone listening” ? …. but the valley and the mountain top can both teach us something – right ?

  4. Personally I’m always ready to learn, although I do not always like being taught.

People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing – that’s why we recommend it daily.

  5. Grumdelagrum thanks for “anding” your thoughts. The mountaintop and the valley are both teaching moments, I’ve just been so spoiled by the views…
