What the world needs now…

Just finished a re-read of N.T.’s book, After You Believe, and a first read through Michael Lewis’ new one titled, The Big Short. This was quite a combo and one that I highly recommend.  Here’s the melody line.

Leadership is ALL about character.  Building strong character is NOT natural.  Taking the easy road is.  There’s a reason that water runs downhill naturally. It’s called the path of least resistance.  Try climbing the other way for awhile.  You will find that it’s…

REAL.  HARD.  WORK.

Building strong character requires the builder to struggle through doing what is right, what is right, what is right, until doing so has become “second nature.” It will, however, never become natural.  It may look that way when observing a strong character perform in a virtuous manner when the pressure is on, but it’s NOT.

What is natural is to want something for nothing, to take more than your fair share, and to sense that you are entitled to more.  Look no further than the Wall Street Executive to see what happens when you have unrestrained capitalist’s “doing” what come naturally.

We don’t need more regulation and more rules.  We will, sadly, most certainly get them.  What we need can’t be managed by good governance, protected by TSA Agents, and trusted to public companies that are playing with other people’s money.  What we need is real simple and real HARD.

We desperately need some leaders that have slowly, laboriously, and patiently built their CORE.  AND, whose character, their word, if you will, actually means something…

Are you BUILT TO LEAD?
