Last friday was an amazing day. I met with four clients and each one was really cool in their own way. However, the topper was actually the beginning. The day began at a little past 7 bells at Liberty Middle School. I was the guest speaker for their FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) group.
Our little man, Taylor, attends.
He sat in the back with a few of his buds and didn’t say anything. I gave a 15 minute speech about freedom based on John 8:32 and then headed out to “officially” start my work day. Why was a 15 minute speech, to a bunch of 12-14 year olds, the highlight of my day?
Simple.
At dinner I asked Taylor about his day and in the course of our conversation he mentioned the FCA time. He said that during my speech there were at least a couple times where he knew what I was going to say before I said it. I asked him to “tell me more.” He looked at me with that sheepish look and said, “Dad, you know the part where you explain the difference between Opus and Labor. AND, of course, the part where you explain that we’re God’s Magnum Opus.”
If my tee shirt had been a button down, they would have all popped off instantly. The buttons, that is.
Who knew he was really listening? Who knew, really.
I can’t stop smiling as I write these words. My son knows that he has been created in an act of Magnum Opus, and that his purpose is to discover AND live out his Opus. Does it get much better than that?
Tell me more, my friend.
Tell me more…
