One of my favorite songs by Coldplay is off their “X&Y” album and is titled, Fix You. Check the song out and tell me if you don’t think this is a definitive Colplay anthem. It just is.
As I’m trying on this whole truth in LOVE cloth here’s what I’m feeling. The anthem for attempting to live this out would be appropriately titled with one word difference. Remember, we think words matter. They can make one “L” of a difference and sometimes even more. Here’s the word change…
Get You.
Living out truth in LOVE, is nothing more than switching from trying to fix another, to trying to get another. Isn’t the deepest human need to be in some form of community with a few people that really “get you.” Talk about chemistry.
I’m 51 years old and there’s nobody on this planet that I really “get.”
Nobody.
Yes, I’ve got issues. This deep change is for me. I’ll keep you posted as to my progress, it will surely come in “fits and starts.” The biggest struggle, as always, will be within. In my case the struggle will be to stop screaming inside about why nobody seems to get me. Funny, huh.
Do you “get” anyone, really?
Is there anyone that, in their dying moment, would scream out for you because you’re the ONE person that really “gets” them?
Why is it that we all want others to “get” us but seem unable to reverse the equation?
