Go home, anyway…

Home, that’s where the hurt is.

Bono’s words, not mine.  These are whispered toward the end of U2’s anthem titled, Walk On. For the longest time, I argued with this lyric and was convinced that I had an interpretation problem.  I was certain it was a typo too.  He couldn’t have meant hurt, I thought.

Home, that’s where the heart is, must have been what he meant, right?

Over time, through thick and thin, sickness and health, good and bad, prosperity and poverty, abundance and abandonment, beauty and betrayal, coming and leaving, building and breaking, I’ve come to love the subtle choice inherent in U2’s anthem.

Home, is where both are.

Go home, anyway…
