Me and the doc…

I’ve been overwhelmed with your response to my last note on my struggle with sugar.  Sounds like many can relate.  Thanks for the calls, the comments, the notes, and the encouragement.  Thank you.

Today, I met with my family physician for my annual physical.  He was blown away with my numbers.  He shared with me that, he too, has a high percentage of visceral fat and that he knows he’s got a sugar problem.  He looks fit and trim with just a few extra lb’s.

I had brought the book, Primal Blueprint and read him the paragraph that M&M read me at the end of July.  He removed his glasses, grabbed his trusty little pad of paper, and began to take some notes.  He asked me some questions as he leafed through the book.  Looking up from the book, he asked again how long I’d been on this primal plan.  Three months, I replied.  He shook his head.  He asked me for the name of the blog.  Marks Daily Apple, I replied.  I could practically see his brain process this unconventional information and try to make sense of it.  Doc popped my legs with that little hammer thing, did all the normal EKG stuff, and finished with the famous coughing exercise.  Oh bother…

We ended our annual physical with no mention of medications, no mention of new productive actions for me, no mention of anything relating to the state of my health. Dr. Long didn’t have anything for me to work on.  He didn’t want me to get another body scan for at least 3 years.  He wanted me to wait another couple years for the virtual colonoscopy.  He told me we would review my new blood numbers in a couple weeks and just keep doing what I’ve been doing.  As we concluded our time,  he simply smiled and told me he was heading to the bookstore.

I smiled at Dr. Long and told him I’d be checking up on him.  We shook hands.  I walked out into the windy weather of central Ohio well aware that I had just experienced our BUILT TO LEAD tagline.

Me and the doc had just tasted the beauty of BTL.  Together, we improved.

Remember, together we improve…

We just do.

  1. YEAH BABY! Way to get traditional docs thinking untraditionally! That is so cool…and they are coming along slowly but surely with patients like YOU, that lead the way in transforming HOW their genes work TOGETHER with their environment AND that have the strength to turn away from the pill to fix it.
