Many months ago I wrote about a great show that Jordan, Natalie, Joshua, and I took in. We were enjoying a cold one in the bar while the warm up bands were playing in the small stage set up in the back. We were all there to hear Seabird, a great young band of four from Cincinnati.
As the last warm up ACT kicked in, we all looked at each other stunned and silent. The soul filled sounds coming from behind the bar were connecting to each of us. Natalie went back to check ’em out first, and slowly we all made our way back. The band was The Civil Wars. The song they ended with was titled, Poison and Wine and has become another one of our BTL anthems. It just has.
A couple nights ago these guys got their big break on Leno. They knocked it out of the park. They have found their voice and, to some, it really connects. They’re NOT for everybody but they really resonate with me. Their new track from their soon to be released first album is worth a listen. I just picked it up and it’s already under my skin. The track is Barton Hallow. These two sing from the heart. God, I LOVE artists that LOVE their work. Check out some OPUS in action and let me know what you think. While you’re at it, take a long listen to Poison and Wine too.
The Civil Wars deserve an audience. It’s really cool to see that they’re getting ONE…
