Humans are not the rational beings that modern science wants us to believe. Humans are mostly predictably irrational and masters at rationalizing.
If we were rational beings why would we need more books, articles, apps, and video guides about how to lose weight? Rationale would say to eat until you are full and eat again when you are hungry.
The truth is that most of us Americans simply eat when we’re bored.
If we were rational beings why would we talk incessantly with our family, friends, and teammates about our problem spouse, boss, or peer and yet avoid speaking truthfully with the spouse, boss, or peer person with whom we have the problem?
If you want to become more rational in your thinking, here’s some good advice. Start to think about your own integrity gaps and close them. Stop habituating the thought patterns that lead to mental weakness. Stop focusing your best thinking on the problems of others. Most humans never conquer this irrational based focus. Even when they’re old and mature they’re still blaming their problems on another someone, something, or some circumstance. Instead, focus on what you can control…
You.
Your world, if you follow this rational habit of focus, will become predictably irrational in a good way. Your world, if you focus on improving you, will start to feel the most predictably irrational emotion.
