Scorecard for significance…

Today was another milestone moment in the 10 year history of BUILT TO LEAD.

We didn’t have a breakthrough leadership thought, we didn’t have a record month in revenue, we didn’t win any award, we didn’t secure any long term contracts (we wouldn’t take ’em), we didn’t add any new builders, we didn’t close any new clients, and we didn’t do anything particularly noteworthy.

However, something really special did occur this morning at 6:50 AM, eastern time. A new record was set. A record that will be broken, I hope, very soon. What record?

7 crazies showed up at the 3PPalace to push up, pull up, and plank. 7 leaders from 6 different companies came to work on their core. Chad led the way and put us through some acute pain. We challenged our core, our upper body, and our mind. The hardest challenge is always the mind. The untrained mind is weaker and lazier than most of our muscles. The untrained mind wants to avoid pain and doesn’t think about the long term benefit.

7 crazies together disciplined their minds and the bodies went along for the ride. I love looking at my friends and clients faces as we hurt ourselves for 30 minutes. I imagine these same faces, smiling, 10 years from now as they summit Alpe Duez for the 3rd time. I imagine these same faces, smiling, 10 years from now as they play with children and grandchildren instead of simply watching. I imagine these same faces, 10 years from now getting tired together with those they love and modeling the way.

Today was a milestone day for BTL. We keep score in a weird sorta way. We track metrics that mean something to us. We call this the “S” to our OPUS, the “S” stands for “scorecard for significance.” Today, BTL, scored.

How do you keep score?

Why will it matter to you in 10 years, in 20 years, and when your time is up?

What is your scorecard for significance,my friend…

  1. I love looking at your face even more as it is the funniest looking when you are working hard. but what about all of those hand signals you are giving during our work out, hands and certain fingers moving about?? HMMM.
Great Group. Thank you for doing it Chet and thank you Missi for letting us. MM

  2. Reblogged this on BUILT TO LEAD and commented:

How do you keep score? What is significant toward your measurement of success? What means more than money? How do you keep track of the non linear, the non numerical, and the non- sensical?…
