Call to me…

On the cover of U2’s album, All That You Can’t Leave Behind, recorded in 2000, there is a picture of the band hanging out at Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris, France.

Today, I asked my client to describe the album art in detail. I wanted him to see something. He began to describe that Bono was looking down and the other guys seemed to be looking right at him. He noticed a couple other folks and a trash can along with some chairs. I asked him to keep looking. “For what,” he asked. Just keep looking I told him. Exasperated and losing interest, he kept looking.

Finally he saw what I wanted him to see. He noticed that one of the gates was in the left hand, upper corner of the artwork and that it looked like it read J33 – 3. I smiled and asked him if he knew what it stood for. He didn’t but he did know me and guessed a book in the Bible, Joshua. Nope, I replied, but you’re close.

One of Bono’s favorite verses in the Bible is Jeremiah 33:3. He refers to it as “Gods phone number.” Check it out…

“Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.”

He smiled back and we both listened to a couple more U2 tunes to seal the deal. This verse was just the reminder he needed to help him get out of the moment he’s stuck in.

Funny isn’t it that U2 would stick a Bible verse on their album cover and make you work to figure it out. Funny isn’t it, that they are the most successful band of all time and all they do is cram their worldview down your ears and mine. Funny, huh.

Today, my client found what he was looking for, learned how to walk on, and discovered Yahweh’s number.

Who are you calling upon when you’re a little bit lost, my friend…

  1. well for me when I’m lost it’s J3-33 (Yahweh). . . sadly it’s usually after realizing (again) that M1-11 has led me down the wrong path

    p.s. M1-11 would be ‘Mahweh’ (i.e. me, myself & I)
