Letting God down…

Recently a client told me that he was really down in the dumps. I asked him to tell me more. He told me his story and how he had not only messed up, he had let God down. I asked him to repeat what he had said. He did. I had heard him correctly. He had actually let God down. Talk about a bummer. Can you imagine letting God down?

Many can.

The truth is you and I can’t. Let’s go through the physics of the matter, so to speak. To let something or someone down we have to be responsible for holding them up in the first place. Make sense?

You are not responsible for God. You are NOT holding him up. You are either in the “palm of His hand” or running like a banchee away from Him. Our choices do NOT bum out our creator.

Here is an interesting extrapolation to your work and life. As you look around at the relationships you are in, make sure you’re not trying to play God. Take responsibility for you, give LOVE freely, and try NOT to own another humans happiness. You and I make really lousy Gods. Thankfully all we’ve got to do is STOP trying.

God, help me keep proper perspective on who I am and who I’m NOT. And, thanks for holding onto me, all my baggage, and never letting me down.

God, help me…

  1. I am daily comforted and encouraged by the fact that there is absolutely NOTHING I can do to make God love me any more than He already does…and absolutely NOTHING I can do that would make Him love me any less! And still He loves me extravagantly – with a limitless love! Thanks, Chet!
