Every leader wants more creativity from their team. And, every leader wants more predictibility in their performance. We want creativity and control. Funny, huh.
Creativity and chaos go together; control, not so much.
Today a team of seven learned that the reason Tel Aviv is the most creative city on the planet at the present, is not because it’s more contained, comfortable, and controlled. Nope, it’s not. Tel Aviv is just this side of chaos. Diverse folks bump into each other on the crowded avenues and in the crowded barracks too. Ideas erupt from the kinda “chance” encounters this environment creates.
Today, I challenged a team of high performers to cheat. Cheat toward their customers in new ways. Cheat toward each other in ways that are not yet proven. I want this team to experience more chaos in their very black and white world. I want them to try more of their own, distinct, ideas and simply connect everybody to their good, not so good, and downright ugly.
More experiments, more chance encounters, more connecting, more good, not so good, and downright ugly. And,more ideas as a result. This is the “process” that leads to progress, LKZ. It just is.
Overtime and through adversity,a few of these ideas are bound to spark some kinda innovation. More memorable moments with more happy customers are just a few more ugly attempts away. The faster you make ’em the faster we find the good ones. Just this side of chaos, remember, is the one you want.
Tell me more, ambassadors. Tell me more..
