One of my bolt on beliefs is around maturity. Only recently have I thought of it this way. Here’s what I mean.
As a kid most of us can’t wait to grow up. We look forward to birthdays and bar mitzvah’s and our own sense of “becoming our own.” For most humans, however, adulthood is not what they imagined. Most humans feel more lost than found and keep pushing for another milestone, another promotion, another title, another lover, or another thing to “complete them.” I’ve begun to see this as the definition of immaturity. I see this in me. I see this in my practice. I am slowly deciding to change. I believe this is the genesis of maturity. I’ve got a long way to go…
Maturity, according to my definition is as follows. I really believe this. Maturity is the process of deep change. Deep change within to become the original Y.O.U. already are.
You and I are born originals. Maturity is the process of becoming the original we already are. Maturity isn’t about growing up is it? Maturity has always been about growing in. Funny the more we grow in the less we worry about what’s up, what’s out, what’s missing, and who’s watching. Talk about becoming comfortable in your own skin!
Build within, my friend. Build within. And, God help me become the original I already am. God, help me…
