This morning began with me laying in bed from 3:30 to about 5:30 knowing it was too early to get going, but feeling like I should be up and at ’em. Quietly, I slid out of bed, brushed my tooth, threw on a little scunscreen (yes, that’s what we call it), slid on my hybrids, and laced up my favorite NB minimus trail runners. Out into the darkness I slipped.
My walk to the Phonecian lobby was uneventful although I did feel under-dressed. Not underdressed in style, mind you, but underdressed in terms of material. All the natives, if you will, were dressed in coats, gloves, and hat. Me, I’m sporting shorts and a Jayhawk tee. Yeah, baby.
It’s good to be warm and toasty in the valley of the sun.
This morning I turned 54 and the small but significant celebration is underway. Thirty minutes on the phone with Mom was followed with five minutes with Krit. By 7:00 I was back to pick up the Miss and a warm couple mile walk and talk around the grounds. And, now Tay is joining us for a little breakfast and then a couple hour hike to the summit of Camelback Mountain. Once we return there will be a few more calls to make to family and friend and then it will be off the pool and their famous slide.
If my memory is correct, the last time I was on that slide was in a long CompuServe train around 15 years ago. Time flies, doesn’t it. I think I was holding on to Quinners ankles and Snuch was in front of me holding onto mine. We had jmo, Mohaf, Rob, Thum, PVC, Suttleman, Fickman, and countless crazies in our ten to fifteen man train. I’m smiling as my mind soaks up the memory and prepares to lay down another.
Time flies.
Today, however, I’m slowing down and taking it in. Today is kairos time for me. I hope it is for you. Give and take care, my friend. Give and take care…

happy birthday, enjoy my state
Happy Birthday!
